For more than 60 years, Wellington Youth Orchestras has been a launchpad for young Wellington musicians. Playing in the Wellington Youth Sinfonietta and the Wellington Youth Orchestra gives them the ensemble experience that carries them onward — into the New Zealand School of Music, the NZSO National Youth Orchestra, university study here and overseas, and, for some, professional careers in music.

Many alumni also stay connected as tutors, section leaders and supporters — the community that keeps WYOS going.
