Wellington Youth Sinfonietta auditions & excerpts

Orchestral excerpts and the online application for players (Grade 5 and above) auditioning for the Sinfonietta.

What to prepare

These excerpts are for auditioning to join the Wellington Youth Sinfonietta for 2027. In addition to a short piece of your choice, play the excerpt(s) for your instrument.

No excerpt for your instrument (e.g. saxophone, percussion)? Prepare two contrasting pieces of your own choosing instead. Listen to the music to help you prepare.

  1. A short piece of your choice that shows what you can do.
  2. The set excerpt for your instrument — download it below.

Audition dates: Saturday 5 & Sunday 6 December 2026, Adam Concert Room (NZSM). Recorded auditions: email by 9pm Saturday 5 December.

How it works

  2. Prepare it plus your own short piece.
